This refers to the actual coaching of athletes. It can be done at the recreational level or competitive level. This may take place on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly, etc.), or in specific situations such as centralised training, clinics, etc.
Coaching practice should provide opportunities for coaches to improve their coaching methods and skills. It could also include both local and overseas understudy or attachments under senior coaches and mentoring of junior coaches.
Examples of Learning Activities*
Coaching an individual or team at any level (recreational or competitive level)
Centralised training for athletes
Mentoring other coaches
Understudying a senior coach
Assisting a national/senior coach
Introducing new methods or improved methods of coaching
*The above are just some possible learning activities and this list is not exhaustive. Coaches who are unsure whether an activity can count towards the accumulation of learning hours should seek clarification from the SSC or the respective NSAs.
