Course Objective:
Have you ever wondered why some people seem comfortable and credible in the media, while others are not? Have you meant to say something to the media, and only to be misquoted?
The workshop will provide coaches the skills to handle the media confidently, even on very short notice. For coaches to learn how to feel comfortable when managing the media and find out ways to make that important media appearance.

Course Outline:
From this workshop, participant will learn:
  • Why media skills are important;
  • What to do when the media calls;
  • Responding to the media;
  • Preparing for an interview; &
  • Your experiences, strategies and best practices.

Profile of Trainer:
Azhagiya Pandiyan is an established writer, newscaster and radio personality. He has more than a decade of media experience, first as a newscaster.

After completing his Masters in Media Studies on a British Chevening Scholarship 1999, he was invited to join Mediacorp Radio. Over the next 5 years, he spearheaded major initiatives that saw the 96.8FM going from strength to strength, receiving many accolades, both local as well as international. He is an avid writer, and his highly successful writings for radio - Varalaatril Indru and Vaanam Vasappadume - have been published into books. Close to 10,000 copies of both books were sold in Singapore and Malaysia.

A top student in Singapore in GCE 'O' Level Tamil as a 2nd language examination in 1980, he is now teaching communication skills at Republic Polytechnic.
