Course Objective:
From this course, participants will revisit coaches' understanding on the coaching process pertaining to the technical aspects of coaching which include the use of fundamental concepts in sports sciences for the analysis of sports movements, strength and power training.

Course Outline:
From this workshop, participant will learn:
  • What are main mechanical concepts in analysis of sports movement?
  • What is the equipment necessary for analysis of sports movement?
  • What are the important elements of musculoskeletal fitness?
  • How can different trainings improve the performance of the various elements?

Profile of Trainer:
Ms. Lee Mei Kay graduated from Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education (NTU/NIE) with a Bachelor degree in Science and Diploma in Physical Education. Thereafter, she completed her Master degree in Exercise and Sports Studies in NTU/NIE. She has been an education officer with the Ministry of Education for more than 9 years and her administrative experience includes being the Head of Department in the areas of Mathematics and Physical Education.

Mei Kay has a strong interest in coaching and as a practitioner, she has been applying the sports science coaching in the areas of cross country and track events while working with school athletes. Her research interest includes biomechanics of throwing and her Masters? thesis examined the kinematics and release characteristics of shot putting techniques.

Currently, Mei Kay is pursuing a Doctoral degree with the NTU/NIE and her research entails deriving direct measurements for 3-D body segment parameter and its application in the study of human gait.
