Course Outline:
From this workshop, participant will learn:
  • Introduction and review of planning and periodization
  • Addressing existing challenges in planning
  • Harnessing software technology in planning

Profile of Trainers:

Mr Basri Yusuf brings along with him a long coaching and playing experience. Presently, he is a NROC Master Coach in badminton and also holds a Level 2 Australian Strength and Conditioning Certification and has attended numerous coaching related courses. As a competitive player, he was one of the top rank men?s single in the Indonesian National Team from 1975 to1980.

He was part of the Indonesian National Team up to 1985.He started coaching from 1980 to 1986 at the elite Indonesian club of Djarum Kudus handling youth players such as Fung Permadi, Hariyanto Arbi and Eddy Hartono who later represented the Indonesian National Team. He continued coaching elite Indonesian youth badminton players till 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he was the National Coach of the Singapore Badminton Association where he coach players like Ronald Susilo, Kendrick Lee and Gerald Ho. After which, he spend the next two years handling youth players at the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and from 2002 to 2003, he was BAM?s national coach handling world elite players like Lee Chong Wei, Wong Choon Han and Roslin Hashim. From 2003 till present, he is the Head Coach of the Badminton Academy of the Singapore Sports School.

As a coach, Basri is a strong advocate of detail planning and has a strong passion in applying the latest technology and sports science information into his coaching.

Mr Gobinathan Nair is the Assistant Director of the Sports Science Academy for the Singapore Sports School where he oversees the sports science support for elite youth athletes. He obtained his teaching certification from the then Institute of Education, Singapore and received his BSc (Hons) majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Coaching and Biology from the University of Oregon. He then did his MSc with emphasis in exercise physiology at the School of Physical Education, Nanyang Technological University.

In addition, he has a post graduate qualification in nutrition and is a NROC Senior Coach in Field Hockey. He also serves as a Member of the governing board of Anti-Doping Singapore.Gobi began his career teaching and has taught in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Following the stint in teaching, he served the Singapore Armed Forces in the following capacities: Head, Conditioning Research Branch; Head, Human Performance Branch; and Officer Commanding, School of Physical Training, SAF.

Gobi has been in the panel of lecturers for NCAP courses and has lectured for the last 15 years. He is passionate about sports science and continues to keep abreast and share with fellow colleagues in the sports industry
