Vision 2030 - A note from SSC CEO
published on 3 August 2011

Dear NROC Coaches

Vision 2030, a new initiative by Sporting Singapore, asks the question: How does sport add value to your life and the lives of your team and community? At Singapore Sports Council, we know that sport can bring about positive change in our nation.

Thus, this is not an abstract question, but one that asks us to ponder about the hard facts of what is needed for us to live healthy, happy and meaningful lives. We were born to move and play; we were born as social beings; we are raised to compete and excel (hopefully with the right values); and we are inspired by greatness.

So, how can we develop sports in Singapore for it to be a force for the betterment of our lives? I hope that you will consider this question and post your thoughts and experiences on our new website. There are seven broad banners of discussion, and I encourage you to share your views in all the ones that matter to you.

Together, we can shape the sports scene in Singapore for the future.
Vision 2030 is a new initiative for everyone in Singapore to explore the opportunities in sport to best contribute to the future development of our people, our communities and our country. We officially formed our steering committee on 18 July, and it comprises people and organisations from a broad cross-section of life in Singapore. However we want to reach even deeper into communities across Singapore.

If you work in the corporate sector, please share your ideas on the roles that can be played by large corporations or small businesses to add value to our sporting sector. If you are a student, a stay-at-home mom or a senior citizen, tell us how the sporting community would work better for you and what you would like to bring to the process. If you are a coach, tell us your experiences of the policy and programming already in place and how you would improve thing. If you work in government, we want to hear from you. If you play sports, please share your thinking on what is working and what needs to change. If you don?t play sports, let us know why.

Sporting Singapore has room for everyone who wants to use sport to bring out the best in Singapore. Sport is more than winning or losing. Sport can ignite and unite us as a nation. It can help us prepare for a changing world at home and abroad. Sport can help strengthen the ties between our diverse communities. It can help us stay healthy and happy as we grow older. Sport is an opportunity for our youth to discover the rules of fair play, the drive for excellence and many other lessons and skills to anchor them throughout the days of their lives.

This is our story, this is your story. Talk to us.
