To provide a quiet and pleasant environment for reading, we need the cooperation of our customers to observe the following library manners within the library premises:
Noise Level
- Speak softly at all times.
- Refrain from having discussions in the library.
- Do not use your handphone in the library.
- Do not run and shout in the library.
Library Materials
- Handle all library materials with care.
- Do not take any library materials out of the library until the librarian has properly issued them.
- Return library materials to their original locations or leave it with the counter staff.
Newspaper Reading
- Take one copy at a time and limit your use to 30 minutes, to give others a chance to read.
Library Facilities
- The library may be cold. Be appropriately attired.
- Our reading areas are strictly for reading of or reference to our library materials.
- Children under the age of twelve, will not be admitted unless accompanied by an adult. Adults bringing children into the library are responsible for their behaviour and for ensuring that they do not disturb other users.
- Theft, defacement, mutilation, misuse or destruction of library facilities is prohibited. Users caught doing any of these of activities shall be handed over to the Police.
- Do not crowd around the computer terminals.
- Do not remove any furniture, especially chairs.
- Help to keep the shelves in order.
- Handle facilities with care.
Food and Drinks
- Eat or drink before entering the library.
Photographs
- No photographs may be taken in the libraries without authorised permission.
Personal Property
- Leave your briefcases, parcels and files inside the lockers provided.
- Safeguard your belongings. The library shall not be responsible for any loss of users' property.
- All instances of loss should be reported immediately to our staff at the Customer Service Counter.
- Library staff may remove bags, files or other personal belongings which caused obstruction or left unattended.
Miscellaneous
- Please note that all money collected by the Library are inclusive of the current GST.
- The Library reserves the right to amend or revoke any of these rules at short notices.
- Library staff has the right to evict users if they are inappropriately attired or to exclude any non-members or anyone whose behaviour is undesirable or inconveniences other users.
