Coach Development Programmes
National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP)

The National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP) is the national standard for coaching qualifications. The programme takes care of your educational needs as a coach by providing courses to upgrade your coaching skills.

National Standards for Youth Sports for Coaching in Singapore Schools


The full-day 4-module National Standards for Youth Sports (NSYS) - Coaching in Singapore Schools Workshop is jointly organised by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the Ministry of Education (MOE). It covers elements from the National Standards for Youth Sports (NSYS) Workshop (for SEP providers) conducted by SSC and the Coaching in Singapore Schools Workshop conducted by MOE.

FUN Start MOVE Smart! Introductory Training Workshops

SSC conducts the FUN Start MOVE Smart! (FMS) introductory training workshops targeted at early childhood educators to introduce and enhance the teaching of fundamental movement skills to children aged two to 10 years old. We hope to help Singapore children achieve physical literacy and prepare them for an active and enriching lifestyle in adulthood.

Swim Safer Instructors Course

The SwimSafer Instructor Programme is an integrated programme combining the merits of the LTSP and NASSA into a single national framework. This programme ensures that students learn basic swimming, survival and lifesaving skills concurrently.

Fitness Instructors Course

The Fitness Instructors Course (FIC) is designed to prepare participants for general fitness instruction. Participants will be taught the foundations and essentials of exercise science for both theory and practical. Participants will acquire professional skills in the teaching and demonstration of safe and effective fitness activities, upon successful completion and certification.

*We are currently in the process of reviewing the Fitness Instructors Course (FIC). The January 2013 examination will be the last scheduled theory and practical examination, until further notice. New examination dates will be announced later this year.


Basic Exercise Course

The Basic Exercise Course (BEC) is a short course specifically designed to arm participants with the basic skills to supervise exercise classes for individuals and groups. Participants will be taught the fundamentals and understanding of exercise and fitness, how to demonstrate proper exercise techniques, and how to use fitness equipment. Upon successful completion of the course and examination, a course certificate will be issued.

* We are currently in the process of reviewing our Basic Exercise Course (BEC). The January 2013 examination will be the last scheduled theory examination, until further notice. New examination dates will be announced later this year.



National Physical Fitness Assessment Tester Course (NAPFA)

The National Physical Fitness Assessment (NAPFA) Tester Course is a basic course designed to equip MOE Teachers with the essential knowledge and skills involved in the school NAPFA Challenge. Participants will learn the fundamentals of health and performance related components of fitness and its relation with the six test batteries of the NAPFA scheme through theoretical and practical sessions. Upon successful completion, participants will be issued a NAPFA Tester Certificate.

* We are currently in the process of reviewing the NAPFA Tester Course. There will be no NAPFA examination dates scheduled, until further notice. New examination dates will be announced later this year.
Learn-To-Play
SSC delivers affordable, accessible sports and fitness classes to suit a wide range of interest groups. Courses are taught by certified instructors at SSC Sports & Recreation Centres island-wide and are tailored for different age groups.
