Fitness Instructor Course
This is an intermediate course designed to prepare the candidate for general fitness instruction. Participants will be taught the foundations and essentials of exercise science for both theory and practical. Participants will acquire professional skills in the teaching and demonstration of safe and effective fitness activities, upon successful completion and certification.

FIC Theory Examination
Paper Examination
Duration of Exam - 2 hours

Multiple Choice Questions
No. of questions - 100 questions
No. of marks - 100 marks

Total of 100 marks - 70 marks to pass (70%)

FIC Practical Examination

The 4 stations for assessments are:

  1. Stack Weights
  2. Free Weights
  3. Flexibility
  4. Body Composition

Each station is based on 100 marks.

Total of 400 marks - 280 marks to pass (70%)
Note: Minimum for each station is 50 marks.

FIC Attachment Programme


Candidates who have successfully completed the FIC Theory and Practical Examination are required to complete a 24-hr attachment programme with gym provider before receiving the certificate.

Examination Registration
Registration closes on 23rd March 2012 for April 2012 examination.

Candidates may register for the certification examination by completing the Application for Certification Examination.

Candidate Eligibility

Minimum age of 16 years old and a good understanding of English.

A valid Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is compulsory for all applications.

Admission to AIC / FIC certification examination requires a BEC certification. Equivalent certification will be considered on a case-by-case basis - please refer to Application for Exemption.
